Well, its been an eventful couple of days!
Yesterday, we left Jupiter to spend the night near Tallahassee, Florida but got delayed for 5 hours in a turnpike park waiting on roadside assistance.
By the time we pulled into the park, it was after dark, we were beat, and went to bed shortly afterward. I never even set foot in the RV park.
Why did we need roadside assistance you might ask? Well, we started hearing a funny noise. This went on with Dave and I trying to figure out where it was coming from, and I finally made him realize I was hearing it near the steps, but they weren’t making a noise when retracting.
The next thing we noticed was when we walked outside, around the front of the bus. We could hear the noise every couple of minutes, then it got more frequent. Finally, we find gured out that the leveling jacks were trying to retract and lowered, but a safety mechanism prevents it.
Dave went around checking where they normally sit and one was leaking out all of its hydraulic fluid! So at that point, we knew we were in a pickle. We HAD to get help. Thank God we were in a safe park and not stranded on the side of the road.
Five hours after we called Good Sam to send help, the angel of mercy arrived and cut the power to the jacks so they’d quit trying to retract, stopping the alarm bells, and then he put on the straps that Dave went and bought to secure the jacks in the up position. That way, the jacks couldn’t accidentally fall down and break off, which would tear the bottom out of our bus!

Arriving in Biloxi, I texted my nieces and one has strep throat, the other never answered me. She must have been super busy. So, Dave and I did a bit of running around, ending up in a casino or two along the way.

We should have been dead on our feet after another 6-8 hours on the road, but after a shower, Dave was refreshed and ready to go. I’ll be glad to visit my nieces and hopefully my cousin while we are here. It should be a fun-filled four days!
Sorry for the bug splatters on the windshield in myfeatures image. Highway hazards don’t ya know!
More to come!
