The Parable of the Starfish

So I got to thinking, and I asked myself, how can I use what I’m drawing to teach a good Biblical lesson? Then I read this parable and I thought of all your lovely comments on my blog yesterday. It made me understand that yes, one persons prayer could make a difference.

THE PARABLE

One day a girl was walking along the beach and saw hundreds of starfish washed up on the beach. She knew if she didn’t get them back in the water they would die.

So one at a time she started flinging them back into the ocean. Along came a fisherman and asked her what she was doing?

”I’m saving the starfish. If I don’t get them back in the water, they will die from baking in the sun.”

”But honey, you can’t possibly save all these starfish. What’s one little lady going to be able to do for them? She flung another into the sea and said, “I mattered to that one!”

What difference do we make?

If I pray for just one person to know who Jesus, what difference will that make? There are still millions out there who don’t know Him.

Like the starfish, we pray for them one at a time. We might be the beginning of a chain of events in that person’s life! What if she or he goes on to tell another, then they tell another?

Well, that is my fervent hope and prayer anyway. 🙏

So, maybe with my blog, someone will be blessed and share it with you th another and on it goes.

If you don’t know Jesus, but you’d like to know more about him, ask me and I’ll share with you what I know.

  3. I agree. Many years ago I had read that our presence will make a difference to someone and we may not even know about it. Just being us and being present.
