This is Dave
This is Dave, jack of all trades, love of my life. We have been married for 34 years and still going strong. He not only gets me, he completes me. I don’t know why God sent him to me, yet I believe it was His doing, I am forever grateful. I did not make good choices with men, Dave was different. Even my mother, who could spot a con a mile away, knew he was different. She didn’t necessarily agree that he was the one for me, but she didn’t dis him immediately either like she had so many of my other boyfriends.
Dave started out working as a house leveler for a company called Slab Happy when we were first married. There were other jobs as well (he layed tile for a while, worked for a friend’s alarm company) but eventually he landed at the City of NRH and worked his way up from the ground to a Supervisor in the Public Works Dept. and every job he’s had with cities subsequently has been upper level management. I’m proud of him and all he’s accomplished. He is a good provider, a hard worker, a fair and honest boss.
He builds things too. We have remodeled almost every house we’ve ever lived in and he did most of the work himself. He’s built cabinets, covered fireplaces, built platforms for huge TVs to hang on, fences, laid tile, ceramic and other kinds…installed appliances, done plumbing work, manages the finances and he’s a damn good cook! Where I’m creative, he is practical. We balance each other out. He is the yin to my yang.
It has been quite the rollercoaster ride but I would not trade it for anything in the world. The last five years have been especially hard. We have both encountered loss. Losing his mom in January hit him very hard and he is still reeling from that. Add to that kids and their problems, financial blows left and right, work related stress, and me having a banner year for injuries, and other medical issues. The man has every right to be stressed and depressed, yet he powers though. He is my rock and I love him with all my heart. If we were playing cards, he would be my Jack and I would be his Queen.
I love you honey!!
(When I saw the word of the day prompt, I did not plan this to be what came out, but this is where my heart led me. 🙂 )
