No man is an island.
Do ya’ll remember that song? We had to sing it in choir when I was in Jr High School and as soon as I saw the word for the day’s challenge today, it brought that song back because it is so fitting for the time we are enduring right now. Here are the lyrics:
No man is an island,
No man stands alone,
Each man’s joy is joy to me,
Each man’s grief is my own…
We need one another
So I will defend,
Each man as my brother,
Each man as my friend.
I saw the people gather,
I heard the music start,
The song that they were singing,
Is ringing in my heart.
No man is an island,
Way out in the blue,
We all look to the one above,
For our strength to renew.
When I help my brother,
Then I know that I,
Plant the seed of friendship,
That will never die.
Does that not say it all?? I remember the tune like it was yesterday, we sang it so many times in choir practice, it is ingrained in my memory. We all need to read and heed the powerful words.
Yesterday was a stellar day in my opinion because I connected with several people, two in person and several by phone. We need other people, this isolation is for the birds. I was so happy to see and spend a few hours with my dad, I think we both felt better after that. I saw my brother too, through the door at his house when I took him a notebook he needed for his studies. I got several phone calls catching up with friends and family. I went to bed peaceful after getting that human connection I needed so badly. Yes, my hubby is here, but sometimes it’s nice to see and hear from other people that I’m missing during this weird time of our lives. Lastly, my son came home last night after several days at his girlfriend’s place, he has a job interview today. Go Josh! Pray he get’s it and maybe another.
Remember, we cannot stand alone, we need God and we need each other. In that spirit, I invite you to join in a special project for Let it Ripple to be part of a global film project. Here’s the link: https://www.letitripple.org/submissions/
Have fun!
