For the Love of Herbs

Strictly off the record, I grow all kinds of herbs,

Some take me to higher ground,

And some just flavor foods.

Harvest time is near,

Drying herbs is easy,

Put some basil in myglass,

Or relax, and feel just breezy.

Please don’t cause a fuss

I grow them for myself

I don’t need the law to come

And put me on a shelf.

What? For basil?

No, you fool, the other herbs I mentioned

Well, had you been more subtle

I never would have questioned!
