SoCS 12-25-21 W.O.T.D. A Week for Excess

From Linda G Hill:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “yum.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!

No tree this year, just this little shrine of sorts.

This morning started with me being the first one up, enjoying the peace and sipping my hot chocolate bomb I got for Christmas from one of Dave’s co-workers. I journaled while it was quiet for the first time since Dad passed.

We are all getting fat because we have given in to every decadent whim we wanted to this week, so after the holidays, I will be focused on getting back in shape! But, with all we have been through and dealt with in the last 2-6 months, a week isn’t bad to let ourselves enjoy a bit of excess.

Last night we gathered as a family at my brother-in-law’s house for games, food, fellowship and fun. As if dinner wasn’t decadent enough, prime rib, turkey and dressing, lots of veggie casseroles-Shari and Josh made two enormous pans of fudge. One was chocolate and one was peanut butter. Dave made banana pudding, and Bubba made pumpkin pie and forgot to put sugar in it…again!!! He did that one Thanksgiving about 5-6 years ago. 😆🤣

Bubba and David
Josh opening his burrito blanket 😆
Chris got some knives but quickly lost them to a steal!
A pregnant Tori, Natalie, her cousin and her plus one, and the hostess…Connie.

We had our White Elephant or Chinese gift exchange, whichever one it is that you fight over the gifts. A lot if us ended up with what we brought, lol! We played all the fun games, snowball toss, unwrap the present with oven mitts on, and bouncing jingle bells. The food was yummy and the company was fabulous, but we missed our people that passed this year and of course, Becky, who is still overseas- right now, she is in England.

My bro, Kevin, Shari, and Josh watching the festivities.

Doesn’t Connie and Terri do such a marvelous job decorating the patio for this event?

They gave all of us ladies a basket of their home made soaps, candles, and balms. Everyone liked the special little gifts I picked for each lady in our little group. I was so happy about that! I think thrift store finds and special, one-of-a-kind gifts mean more than some expensive presents i could have bought. I did pretty good for waiting until almost the last minute! My ”shopping” took place this week!!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and enjoyed your family and/or friends. 🎄🎁🥰🤗🎊
