Father’s Day, Fun with Friends

Happy Fathers Day to all the guys out there who are father’s, whether biological or not!

My dad adopted me when he married my mother. I was 3 1/2. He’s the only dad I’ve ever known, therefore, he is (was) my dad. He was a great dad. He gave me my moral compass, answered all my dumb questions, taught me right from wrong, how to be a strong, confident woman, and gave me his support no matter what crazy ideas or good ones I had. What more could I ask for?

Our friends Michelle and Kerry came to visit for Thursday-last night and left out this morning. I also have friends from Arizona down, but we haven’t connected yet, and I don’t want to bother them on Fathers Day.

Kerry and Michelle in the waves.

We had one full beach day with them, and yesterday we went fishing. Unfortunately, the surfer dude didn’t come…but then again, we never saw anything but barges. It takes a tanker to make the waves he needs to surf the bulkhead. We didn’t get skunked fishing though, even if it was dumb or hardheaded catfish and a couple of crabs.

Me with my catfish.
Kerry with his.
David just informed me they were gaff top catfish. Both nasty anyway.

Kerry was having some kind of eye issue, so last night after dinner, Dave cut a potato in two pieces and Kerry put them on his eyes. He swears by this trick that takes the swelling down.

Michelle and I could spend all day at the beach, but due to Kerry’s eye issue, we chose to set up the canopy and fish. Man it was so hot and humid!! I was happy to get back, take a dip and shower at the pool, then go eat an early Mexican dinner at Cancun. We like that place a little too much, lol.

Weirdly enough, one time while they were here in the broad daylight, we saw some jackrabbits, munching away without a care in the world. So for all you bunny freaks out there, here you go.

One jackrabbit and another was leaving as I snapped the pic.
Not our motor home, but both bunnies. Jackrabbits.

I also cleaned my rocks yesterday, and put them in for the final polishing. Here they are after cleaning, but before polishing. That will be finishing up next wknd.

They shrunk quite a bit, huh? They will look the same at the end, just shinier.

And I put the final touches on the “sculpture” I made my friend from Arizona. It’s a sea bird that started out as a devil’s claw.

I was going to mount the shell to a piece of driftwood, but I lost the small piece I had picked up on the beach. I hope she likes it!
