This morning I rose early to walk before sunrise.
Yes, you read that right! I hated to miss it, but I had my glasses on instead of my contacts, meaning, I couldn’t wear my sunglasses.
I got up at 5am, but left out at 6am so I’d be able to see where I was going. My vision isn’t the same in my glasses as when I’m wearing contacts. Anyway, we are going to try again to post a short video of the dolphin I caught feeding near the marina.
Well, I tried compressing it and moving it to a file, but I can’t get that to work either. I must learn how to post videos to YouTube, so I can feature them on my blog.

Featured in this gallery is the graceful water rippling in the ship channel, a view of the fishing pier at the park, the observation tower where I took that first sunrise photo, two shots of the great heron, the pavilion at the park, one of the cuter Farley boats featured around the island, the sign outside a realty company, our sign for the RV Park, and one of the local jackrabbits still and in motion.
It’s a good thing that the dogs have to be leashed, because mine would chase these guys down and possibly get a disease. There are occasionally coyotes here too, but we’ve never seen one. No RV park is walled off on the island, so you might see various wildlife from time to time. These jackrabbits are so comfortable here, they aren’t scared of us and roam around people’s sites freely. I’ve never seen them doing anything but munching on the available grass.
It was already 82 degrees at 6am, with 71% humidity. Makes for a very sweaty walk on the way back, but at least I wasn’t affected by the extremely high UV index, which is 10 right now. (Very high on the index chart).
Yesterday’s fight with the waves closed all my rings, and today’s walk to the park and around Walmart during our grocery trip to Aransas Pass has already earned my 6,000+ steps. One more vigorous day will have me on par for the week.
Tonight is burger night, I’m so looking forward to that! What’s for dinner at your house?
