I remember being a kid and writing letters to family members, just to keep them updated, or to thank one of them for a birthday gift. I miss those days of writing letters don’t you?
Well, not really though, because what has replaced them? Blogs! Of course! Don’t we use our blogs at times as letters to friends and family? Keeping them updated, or sharing new information, or where have we been lately?
As far as my resolution to write more this year, I’ve kept it up with this month’s writing challenge, and by writing two short stories and submitting them to different publications for money. The money part hasn’t come through yet, but I keep writing and trying.
I don’t remember when my love for writing actually started, but I’m sure it was fueled by my love for reading! If I had to choose technical over creative, the latter would win, but I’m not as good at it. I love to research, so that helps with technical writing. Why didn’t I ever manage to make money with that I don’t know.
Maybe the answer is to stop trying to earn money and just write!
What do you think?
I read Stephen King’s book-”On Writing” but I think I should reread it someday. His sage advice didn’t stick the first time. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring it with me. 😌
Who was it that said, “Sit your butt in the chair” is the first step to being a great writer? Hemingway? Stein? Not sure, but that is the best advice ever.
Prompts help me immensely. If you have writer’s block, a prompt will get the juices flowing. Are you writing drivel? Doesn’t matter…you are writing something and that’s the first step! Just do it!!
Okay, I think I have overused the prompt today! 🤣
That is all Kim’s sage advice for today. 😉😂
