Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “memories of the room you’re in.” Write about a memory of the room (or park, or gym, or where ever you are) you’re in when you write your post. Enjoy!
| “I feel very adventurous. There are so many doors to be opened, and I’m not afraid to look behind them.” |
| – Elizabeth Taylor |
This is such a perfect quote from Mrs. Taylor that it suits me right down to the ground!
Behind the one door we have in the motor home (besides the bano) is the driver’s seats which lead into the combination of living room, dining room, and kitchen. In the year and a half we’ve been traveling, these rooms have been the epicenter of our daily lives.
Besides the weather we’ve observed, and the delicious meals we’ve cooked, each place itself carries the memories more than the room we are in. However, we’ve streamed and watched a lot of shows and played a lot of games, and occasionally entertained a few friends.
In this lifestyle, most friends want to mingle outside the vehicles. We don’t do that much, unless weather permits or we just want to listen to music and be outside. But! I do display the calender for each month at every place we go to, as well as the park map, and the tv channels guide.
I don’t have knick knacks or a place to store them, but we gather magnets from each state we go to that will someday be put on the bus somewhere…probably our slide out. I sometimes gather rocks still too, as a momento of a place we’ve been.
As far as Mrs. Taylor’s quote, I’m very adventurous, and not afraid to look for the newest place, in a different state for as long as we are financially and physically able to do so. I’ve no plans to stop now, and we are already making plans for the next adventure!
So, Monday we start the trek home, on the way we will see a different city in Florida -near Tallahassee, then stop near Jackson, Mississippi, and probably just outside Shreveport before returning to Ft Worth for about a month. Well see our kids and my brother, friends and our doctors, rehab the bus a bit before heading to Colorado for Spring/summer!
It’s such an exciting lifestyle that I don’t want to stop yet, but we will be returning to Jupiter next year. It’s very expensive, but it’s near my sister and we love the area and all the friends we’ve made here! They will also be be back, and some of them live here. I want to spend at least one month on the west coast, however, so we are hoping to do that as well.
So my “room” may be on wheels, but the memories really aren’t made in here. They are about the people we meet along the way! The adventures we have while we are there. The food we eat and the things we do. That’s where the memories are the strongest.
