Incense or Incensed?

The word of the day is “incense” but it brought up two definitions to me.

You can burn incense as aromatherapy, or a religious ritual, or just as a room deodorant. I like it, but Dave does not, so I wait for an opportunity to be alone if I want to enjoy it.

I like patchouli and musk types of incense, but don’t burn it often.

Now, getting really mad about something is to be incensed. Furious, really. I rarely get that angry, but have you ever been so mad you’re just shaking all over? It happened to me a handful of times, usually when my mom was still with us.

Another time I can recall, I was in the service. I was out at a night club, seeing a band with my bestie, and I got very angry and upset about something to the point that I left and started walking the five miles or so, back to the barracks. I must have been pissed!!

Anyway, I can no longer remember the reason, but maybe my bestie went home with someone and I was scared or mad about it, or maybe some guy really enraged me but I had no business walking alone at night in San Antonio!!

A trucker stopped to pick me up, and after assuring me he wouldn’t let anything happen to me, tried to do something to me. His buddy stopped him, kicked him out of the truck, and took me all the way to the base gates. I was so grateful and thankful! Then he left to go pick the guy back up, because evidently they were partners in the business.

Sometimes, letting yourself get that furious only hurts you in the long run. I should have gone home and burnt some nice incense to take my mind off of it all, but I was probably just glad I made curfew!!

  1. It’s hard to think straight when something makes you that angry.

    1. Yes, and hard to control emotions. Best to walk away and cool down.

  3. I too lose my temper, but very rarely. It happens when someone is very rude. But luckily it is not often. My husband rarely loses his temper and when he does he keeps quiet. He says in anger we say words which should not be uttered. I agree with him but I do not have that much control 😊.
