Visit to Delores

Today, after I played Mahjongg and had lunch, Dave and I took a little trek to the town of Delores, looking at an RV Park he saw there. It butts up to a river, perfect for him to fish. The town itself was so delightful!

My new Mahjongg buddies, Judy, Gwen, and MaryAnn

On one side of the main road are steep cliffs with ginormous rocks that look like they are barely balancing in precarious positions.

Entrance to the Delores Lake. You can’t see the big rocks here, but further in town. However, while here we entered a small trail to find this:
Dave standing by two huge rocks balancing on the edge.
Can you see it better now?

The other side boasts quaint shops, including everything you’d need if you were staying there, from a grocery to a post office. Hair cuts, doggy grooming, animal hospital, hunting and fishing needs, and with the lake right there, all kinds of water activities, restaurants, and more!

We stopped at the RV Park to inquire if they had space starting Aug 1-Sept 15. The guy there said he thought so but would have the manager call us tomorrow to confirm. So we may have a place to stay after our time here in Echo Basin!

On the way back, we drove to Summit Lake located in Mancos State park, about a mile as the crow flies from our location. Its not that quick by car, unfortunately. Now that we know the way, it wont take so long.

So Dave has a few places to choose from to fish, and he wants to learn fly fishing so he can get good before we go back to North Carolina. I’m so happy he will have something to do in case I get involved in activities at the other RV park.

One part of the mountain range still covered in snow. Our park is in that area
A different part of the mountain range that’s grassy

When all that was done, we came home and rested, before going to the Bar/grill on site to enjoy tacos and margaritas as our pre-anniverary celebration. We were going to attend game night, but since we had to walk back to our “campsite” …uphill, we decided to call it a night and came back to chill for the night.

I took a few pics since the scenery was so different from where we are. I hope you enjoy!

PS: Its going to be our 39th wedding anniversary, not 40. I can be wrong sometimes 😆😉

    1. Thank you, yes that’s true! I love just taking off with Dave to really start exploring our area. Delores is close enough that that it doesn’t take long to get there, so we were able to explore two more lake areas after that!

    It’s still a definite grand achievement, ma’am!
