Some Things

I’m skipping over SoCS this week (sorry, Linda) and addressing the Word of the Day instead.

When I was playing GI Jane in my youth, as a private in the Army, I was stationed at Ft Carson, CO northeast of where we are now. Seeing the majestic Pike’s Peak every day was a fabulous way to start my day. I had many adventures both public and private.

Now, we are here in southwest CO, having our own little adventures, mostly public. Seeing the mountain views, the ancient cliff dwellings, going on walks that are, by the way, building up my endurance. I’m finally to the stage where I can handle the hills without stopping at the top to catch my breath, and I’m pushing myself up my using my abs and glutes to do it. We have gone Jeeping, explored art galleries, attended Burro Fest, and driven to all three cities that makes up the triangle of this area near the Four Corners.

The nights are cool, I’m a baby, so I don’t always join Dave outside when he sits out there for hours, listening to his music, maybe with a dog, maybe without. But if I join in early enough, I can handle it for a while. He mentioned getting some firewood, so we can have a fire one night, that would be fun.

On a subject most would keep private about, but not me, I’ve found a way to enjoy a beverage when he is having a beer and I don’t want alcohol. It has a low amount of THC, its delicious, comes in about six different flavors, but the bad side is sugar. Oh well, can’t have my cake and eat it too, so exercise daily is a must! (Colorado is a legal state)

Last night, I sat outside a while with him and the dogs enjoying my one can of soda which later paired nicely with some mini-carrots and roasted pepper hummus. I especially like the Rootbeer flavor. That went great with my hamburgerthe other night. I also have a Coke version I may try tonight with our bbq ribs.

It’s very mellow and long-lasting, but since I microdose throughout the day, I barely feel the difference. Still, its nice to feel like I can join the “party” when others are imbibing in alcohol. I have limited myself to one drink a week-if that. Yesterday, to be honest, we stopped and had lunch at Tequila’s in Cortez where we went to do some shopping. Yes, I had a small margarita. It was my first since I made the mistake of having some cider a couple of weeks ago and suffering a week long bout with mouth ulcers.

I’ve decided that its my penchant for sweet and sour drinks that cause that particular malady. I trend toward lemonade, and variations of that, crisp apple ciders, and or the above mentioned so maybe they are the cause. Who knows? I have a goofy stomach.

Anyway, the camp is filling up with lots of folks since the holiday day is next week. I sat outside with Dave, at our private little site, and watched people walk by with their dogs, or on a bike, or cruising around while getting familiar with the park.

Of course, the princess was happy!

I hope my public disclosure of some kinda private things doesn’t change anyone’s opinion of who I am. I’m still the same person with the same values as before. I’ve grown to appreciate what CBD and THC can do for my pain, without going overboard. I’m not ‘out of it’ or unable to function. I don’t sit around high all day, I know how to manage everything and still do my exercises, go on walks, and get daily tasks done.

I’m less because I’m older, I feel like there is still a stigma attached to using various forms of THC, or I wouldn’t be so worried about sharing the fact that I use it. I refrain from smoking it, just as I refrain from smoking cigarettes. Someday, I hope I can get off nicotine as well, but I do still vape. It’s all a work still in progress.

I guess you could say I’m an adventure seeker in many different aspects, or you might be saying to yourselves that some things should just stay private. Either way, its your choice to keep following or not, but I sincerely hope you do. ☺️❤️

I guess you could also say that I’m an open book, what you see is what you get. I’d like to think you are happy for me since I’ve found a way to deal with my pain, until I can get another nerve block injection (maybe not until this winter!) It doesn’t take it all away, but it is more manageable. My exercises help the most, so I do them religiously. In fact, its time now. So, I bid you all adieux for now. I’ll leave you with this famous tune that goes along with today’s subject matter, and as my way of making fun of myself.

    1. Thanks for your support, Dan. I’m sure the next time I’ll find a sugar-free alternative, I can’t abide by the sodas too often.

  3. I believe in herbs and more natural remedies. I’ve not found the edible or drink that works for me, but if you find something that works for you, go for it. I might be tempted to try the drink but it is the sugar not MJ bits that frighten me.

I’m glad you have found ways to exercise that work for you and help you advance in health. 🤗🙏

    1. Yes, the sugary drinks will have to be an occasional thing, like just on the wknds -or- ill look for a sugar-free alternative. They even have sticks of flavored drink enhancer like you add to your water that are sugar free! There are seltzers too, but in the past, they upset my stomach. Not sure if that was the seltzer itself, or the alcohol + seltzer combo.
