Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “peace/piece.’” Use one, use them both (for bonus points), use them any way you’d like. Enjoy!
I had been waiting all month to attend this craft fair (not much going on in Dolores unless you’re a local) and for all that, I found one item for $2.
If you are the candle type, there was plenty. Lots of creative pieces too-like the pencil holders someone made that wrap around a coffee cup. She had them in all the football teams plus different designs, for only $5. I was going to buy one for a gift, but someone talked me out of it.
An artist I’d met previously and had many conversations in her shop, had her booth up. She does watercolor crafts and paintings. I like talking with her because I generally like talking to creative people that share the same interests as me.
A wonderful photographer had a booth and she had so many different pictures of wildlife -some local, some not. We discussed what is around here that I still haven’t seen and a few that I have, like Marmots. With this place and it’s peaceful, yet rugged and rocky terrain, I expected to see mountain goats, elk, and black bears around. Nothing but deer so far. Magpies, deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and ground squirrels yes, but I haven’t seen an eagle either. They are here though. She had pictures of all that and more.
Another booth I liked had stained glass earring creations. They were reasonable and oh so pretty, but its tough being on a fixed budget. I don’t buy a whole lot unless I need it, so I didn’t today.
Another booth had rocks and jewelry pieces made with them. I’m always drawn to those, but would rather find, polish, and make them myself. I need to get busy with that!
Lastly that I thought was interesting I’ve seen before at other craft shows and that’s items made with bullets. Crosses, frames, magnets and more. There were potholders too, and crocheted animals. Lots to see, but not a lot of money to spend.
I keep money in my account for peace of mind. If Dave needs help, I pitch in and pay for groceries or a bill, and I also like to pay for my own indulgences from time to time. Hair, nails, the occasional piece of clothing. Otherwise, I build up my savings account for extra cushion in times of emergency. I’m more likely to spend money on a gift than myself, unless its something I need.
Craft fairs are cool though because you see other creatives and never know what you might find that you can actually use.
