Yesterday, in one of the comments, i mentioned that I was sure Gary and Tammy would show us a good time. That was an understatement! Explanation coming as we tackle Linda’s prompt for today:

Gary and his girlfriend, Tammy, picked us up at our place and we all headed for Carter lake. Me feeling good yesterday helped immensely as we boarded the boat and headed out for an afternoon on the water.

Trolling along with Tammy setting up the rods and tackle, conversation flowed as well as the libations. Soon she presented us with a delicious meat and cheese tray, flavored nuts, and spicy peppers. We caught up, rehashed some old (sometimes hilarious) stories, and before I knew it Gary was yelling for me to grab my rod.

Why I didn’t see it was because I was watching the top pole not the bottom one. I hauled in a nice trout and later, Dave snagged a walleye! They were as knowledgeable and capable as any charter boat we’ve been on but so much more fun as hosts.

We had a great time and Dave’s old marine buddy Gary and he were happy retelling tales and learning the latest news.

Tammy and I got to know each other over snacks and while admiring the view. Everyone was relaxed and comfortable (except maybe Tammy as she did all the work) and we could not have asked for a more perfect night weather- wise.

Back at home we invited them to come in and hang out awhile. After a bit they retired for the evening with promises to see us again today. I believe we are going to Estes Park this afternoon. It’s been over thirty years since we’ve been there, so I can’t wait!
