It is that time again when we take on Linda’s prompt for Saturday stream of consciousness.
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fork.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
This morning, my lovely husband served me breakfast in bed and I had no need for a fork for this meal. A delicious sausage biscuit with egg and melty cheese, which the pups were happy to help me devour.
In fact, my lovely husband often serves me breakfast in bed since that is where I do my daily Bible reading and study, then read all my news and blogs. Isn’t he the best? I know, I’m spoiled rotten! Its only three steps from the kitchen to the bedroom though.
Yet that doesn’t make me speak with forked tongue when I say I’m truly grateful. I’m usually freezing in the morning and its nice to stay in my warm and cozy cave.
Last night, we met up with Dave’s cousin Holly, her hubby Jeff, and their daughter Kiley. We will see their other two grown girls sometime this weekend. What will we do today? Not sure yet, but they live on a farm, so I’m hoping it will involve meeting the chickens and touching the corn that surrounds their farm. Not their corn, but their land that they lease to the corn farmers.
We went to dinner last night at a Cheers-like bar/restaurant and all enjoyed the fish special (not fried for me) but Kiley had a chicken wrap. The baked haddock was delicious that Holly and I had and the guys chose the fried cod. We had a great time talking and eating and afterward we went to Walmart for some essentials like dog food.
Kiley sent us home with a plate of her home-baked chocolate chip cookies and we will be gaining some fresh eggs from them soon. We explained we don’t have room for a lot of groceries, so its nice they don’t require a refrigeration. We will try to use all our eggs first so we have room.
I imagine we will meet the grandkids too of her oldest daughter, Madison. Maybe Monday. We have to stay two extra days to wait for a part for the motor home. Once we landed here at Big Rock State Park, Dave noticed that one of our front turn indicator lights had fallen out! The light was originally off a Pontiac sunbird, but they don’t make those anymore, so it will come off a jeep he said.
We also had an “incident” on the road when we got stuck at a rest stop that could not accept our size. While trying to turn around (because you can’t back up a rig with a toad) he scraped a sign and once again, tore up our awning and the one over the bedroom slide out. Ugh! We just had that replaced for the second time when we were home.
Today he repaired it with special duct tape made just for that. It is too windy to keep it out though, so he retracted it after the repair (patch) was made. Now we wait until this afternoon to return to the farm. I would like to visit Chicago since we are so close, but Dave isn’t so shiny on the idea. He said, “maybe” so that’s it.
I’m grateful the temps will be in the low 80’s today, because last night was downright chilly! I’ve gotten too chubby for my jeans, so thank goodness for denim colored leggings! I was wearing them, a long-sleeved shirt, boots, and a jacket last night and was comfortable.
Unfortunately, I forgot the photos, so today I will make a point of taking pics of the family and maybe some of the farm too.
Stay tuned!
