While I’ve never been a glamorous girl, I’d say I’m pretty much a girly girl.
I like glitter, bling, rhinestones, and the like, but I dress for comfort and I refuse to spend lots of money on clothes and shoes or jewelry.
I have all of those things, but I shop for bargains. In a thrift shop, I’ll pick out a shirt with bling over a plain one, come home, and wash it and wear it.
Jewelry and shoes, I buy on sale. Now my nails…thats another story. I have spent what I call “stupid” money getting those done, because I can’t do a proper job at it anymore. My friend Carrie came to the rescue with her Color Street nail strips that are made of real nail polish. You simply press them on your natural and the really look painted! I’m going to put some on my toes because my nails are gel and should last a few more weeks.

When I was young, I would spend a dumb amount of time painting my nails, adding details like flowers or hearts, whatever was in season. Now my abilities have wained, so I get them done at a salon. Everyone knows that’s not cheap anymore.
The most glamorous that I ever felt was when I sang in a barbershop group called the Sweet Adelines. We wore the most gorgeous dresses full of sequins and sparkly earrings, but after a while, it got so expensive I couldn’t afford it.
Another time was on a cruise, and I had a pretty black dress, and some fake but beautiful earrings and a bracelet that I wore for formal dinner one night.
Lately, since we live like we do, my nails are pretty much all that’s left to look blingy. Campers would look kind f silly walking around trying to look glamorous wouldn’t they?
I’m most comfortable in shorts and t-shirts with sandals when its warm, leggings and sweaters or sweatshirts when it’s cool/cold. I used to wear blingy sandals and still would if I could find them at an affordable price, but that is rare.
I watch all the old shows with Dave like Leave it to Beaver and Lucille Ball and in those days, moms looked glamorous as a norm. Hair was up and done perfectly, they wore dresses even if they were just a housewife. I would not have fit in back then. 😉
