SoCS &WOD Challenges 7-2-22

Today we were scheduled to look at a motor home at 9:30am in Cleburne, Tx., about an hour away from our home.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “—amble.” Add letters to the beginning of “-amble” to make another word or use it as is in your post. Enjoy!

We showed up right on time, pulled up to the gate and honked as instructed, and without preamble, were lead straight to the magnificent bus. As soon as Mr Al found out we were first-time buyers, he seemed to be trying to talk us out of starting with the bus.

His reasoning was, even thought they are different price points, the bus is the biggest, finest of the class A motor homes. He thinks we should start with something smaller and work our way up. David knows what he wants, however, and is very experienced with large vehicles.

The fact that we will be rambling all over pulling a vehicle behind us does add to the length and weight, however, so I discussed broadening our search to other types and classes of motor homes. After ambling through four or five RV dealerships in the 100 degree heat, we had two we really liked. Yet we looked at one 5th wheel that had all the other kitchens beat so those are now on our radar as well. After trampling over rocky parking lots and going in and out of motor homes with their various steps and levels, my knee had about had it.

We also learned that we will most likely have to purchase a warranty elsewhere, like Good Sam, which covers all things RV related. Once you’re a member, you can also get discounts on many things! This whole adventure is going to be a learning process and we have at least three months to shop, learn, and discover new things.

My friend Michelle came over yesterday and helped me start a list of what we will need to pack for the RV, what we will need to put in storage, and start thinking about what to sell or donate. Buses have a lot more storage, and since this will be our new home for rhe next (hopefully) five or six years, we will need every bit of storage we can get.

Then again, it will just be the two of us and our pups, so what do we need the most? Mr. Al suggested, a phone, our computers, and our clothes. 😂🤣 I said, “ You must be joking, right?” He giggled and added food. 🤪He’s talking to a woman. A woman who has amassed 37 years of stuff. I’m thinking we will need a lot more than that.

It’s all still very exciting, but I’ve come down from cloud nine thinking of all the planning, research, and work we have to do to pull this off. Tomorrow we tell the kids and in-laws. Since I’m not as ambulatory as when we started out this morning, We are gonna relax for the night.

WOD Challenge 3-14-22 Browsing at the Mall

I went to the mall today to pick up my birthday gift, the angel wing charm from James Avery that Dave got for my charm bracelet to memorialize my dad.

Angel wings to remember Dad.

After I picked that item up, I went to a few stores to browse, looking for sweatpants that don’t have fitted bottoms. I gave up on that but found a few fun, cheap items in the Miss A store, and Earthbound Trading company.

Miss A has tons of makeup, skincare, nail care, hair care items and most of them are just one dollar! I grabbed some tea tree shampoo, some eye serum, some eye shadow, some moisturizer, some bb cream, and some lip therapy oil. All under $10.

In Earthbound Trading, I grabbed 30 sticks in three different scents of incense for $4 and some change! I feel like a winner! Saturday when we were running around, Dave bought me new lipstick and mascara and I got a free birthday gift of facial cleanser, so I am set for a while! That was at Ulta, one of my favorite places to browse!

In JC Penney, I tried on a pair of sweater pants that would have worked for me had they not been about 6 inches too long and a sweater top to go with them, however, I’m too old to be wearing a crop top! 😉

It was on clearance, but I put it all back and walked out because I was roasting in there! I am too cheap when it comes to clothes. I would rather spend my money in a thrift store and bring them home to wash and wear than brand new clothes. I know, I’m sad. Hahahaha.

Sean gave me a Spotify gift card for my birthday, so I need to check it out and see how that works. I’m told I can download entire albums! The card is worth $30, but I’ll need to investigate further to redeem it. He also gave me some candy that he remembered Mom and Dad really liked…Gold Brick Eggs. He also gave me some scratch-off cards. He is too much! Kevin had already taken me to the movies Friday, but gave me a funny card and a gift card to Chili’s!

I put her in my office for inspiration.

The boys all came for dinner and gave me love and cards, so I feel very blessed indeed! I had a wonderful birthday dinner with the family and Connie gifted me a lovely plant and they brought the dessert (I had a tiny piece) which was Italian Creme Cake! Yummy! What a fabulous weekend!

On a sad note, I learned that Tammi, my late Uncle Tony’s wife, passed away yesterday as a result of the injuries she sustained in that boating accident last year. My heart hurts and I just can’t believe it. She was so full of life and so sweet, I really thought she would pull through. Maybe she missed him too much. I don’t know what their ginormous family will do without her, she was the glue and the light that kept them all together. I sent prayers for peace and comfort not knowing what else to do at the moment.

Word of the Day Challenge 12-16-20 Charge

Here are a few of the things I bought for my Ohio grand daughter, Rayven on my debit card yesterday. I was going to pay cash, but I also bought my wonderful hubby some new slippers, so I had to charge the purchase on my debit card. That’s the way the world is headed anyway, right? To charge everything and get away from cash? I don’t understand why that is, but most of the time, it is easier for me anyway because I don’t carry much cash for safety reasons.

I have not done much shopping yet, we took care of Rayven because we had to hurry and get stuff sent up north before the storm charging across the upper half of the US stops all hope of people getting their Christmas gifts. We had previously ordered her a talking Woody doll, and I went and got her a couple of shirts, some leggings, barrettes, Frozen long underwear, and her most requested item; chocolate covered marshmallows 😉 A child after my own heart!!

Mama sent me her pics with Santa. Weird that the image shows movement in the background, yet she and Santa are still. Hmmmm.

If she looks scared (she does to me) her mama told me that Santa is a friend and she told Rayven that she told Santa she had been bad, so I guess she was worried she wouldn’t get anything, lol! That’s a mean joke to play on a 4-year-old! Poor baby!

What about you all? Have you done much shopping? Do you have to charge all your purchases? Better hurry if they need to be shipped anywhere, especially up north. Amazon is so backed up, they warned that the last day to get your items shipped in time for Christmas is today unless its going first class or priority mail!!

The Many Hair Styles of Mine

Hey guys, remember that song “I Wanna Talk About Me” by Toby Keith?

Well that’s what I want to do today, lol, after having a particularly successful day of running errands and getting my hair done!

My friend, Thomas, from the place I used to get my hair done, now works at the totally revamped JCP In-Style Salon in the NE Mall. So I paid him a visit (I paid too, lol) to see if he could give me a cut and color so I will look nice for my upcoming 40th high school reunion.

This is me before cut and color

Hair after, but just blow-dried, not styled

Looks pretty, love the color, but to me sitting in the chair, I could see my scalp and I’ve never liked my hair flat like that. So I rushed home to curl it with my curling iron, and of course it didn’t cooperate…

Styled somewhat

Ok guys, what say you about all of this! LOL

Yesterday, I was at work at the preschool with the kiddos who were excited about Halloween. It was almost time for the parents to come pick up, so we were doing an easy activity to help keep them still until then. We were linking chains to make simple play jewelry and I took their pictures and had Jackson take a pic of me in mine (and to get my Halloween shirt, lol).

Alright! Enough about me already!!

I also went and got some new replacement glasses for times my contact is out (I only wear one) and after insurance they only cost me $25!! They will be ready in two weeks if anybody cares, lol.

The lady at Sam’s who helped me order and pick out new glasses

Ok, I also got a backup for my JUUL in case it gives me grief or needs to be charged…its called MYBLU and with my $1 base unit special and the coupons I had for the pods, the whole shebang cost under $5!!! I chose vanilla flavor-surprise-anyone that knows me knows I’m a vanilla girl. (I bought it at Walgreens, don’t go panicking that I’m gonna get sick from vaping.)

My granddaughter’s birthday is coming up soon, I already bought and sent her present (a princess dress) but we had a few more things for her and something for Taylor, so I also went and got what I needed to get all that in the mail, and now I need to hurry to the post office before they close. Well, now that I look at the time…might as well wait until tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everybody!!

Cruise Snapshots & Stories Day 7-Final Day at Sea

Good morning everyone and TGIF!! It’s been a busy week, writing and otherwise! NaNoWriMo started yesterday and although I’m not actually participating this year, I am trained to do the work this month from my previous years, so I’m committed to writing 1000 words of something, anything this month. I will track my own word count each day of all the pieces I write and if anyone cares, I will share that with you. Any others participating this month? It’s a great exercise and/or chance to start that novel you’ve always wanted to write. Click on the link above to learn more about it. You can even do like I did the past couple of years and be a REBEL, someone who writes for word count only, no matter the material.

Ok, Let’s get on with today’s Snapshots and Stories, shall we? I was actually glad for a day of doing whatever the heck we wanted to on board, no time table to adhere to. We started the day by sleeping in, lol! I think we made it to 7:30 🙂

Two of the evening’s highlights for me was a production called “In the Air” featuring dancing and aerialists by Royal Caribbean stars and an adult comedy show by comedian Tim McTigue, who we had previously seen at the family show. But first, there had to be breakfast, shopping, (window shopping for me), and weeklong plans to lazily hang at the pool and/or hot tub. Those hopes were quickly dashed when we walked outside to find super windy and cool, cloudy conditions. 😦  On to Plan B!

We joined a crowded Windjammer for a leisurely, late breakfast, then returned to our room to regroup and see what we wanted to get into next. There was a message from Vicki on the phone inviting us to lunch with them at the Rembrandt dining room. I was determined to get in the hot tub while Kaye chose to go try her luck in the casino, so I changed in went to the Solarium, thinking it was covered and maybe out of the wind. I was wrong. It was covered, yet the ceiling was open above the hot tub, so it was still windy. I got in anyway, enjoyed a beverage and quickly returned to the room to change again. 😉

Somehow we managed to eat again when we met our party for lunch, then we set about making every minute of the rest of the cruise count. We went to the Jewelry Boutique to oooh and ahhhh with everyone else who were really shopping, not knowing they were giving away a 1 carat loose Midnight Sapphire! We got it! Somehow Kaye learned the info and shared it with me, I didn’t even ask for mine before the ambassador was handing me one. I think she asked for me! 🙂 From there we made our way to the win-a-cruise-bingo, but I was unable to purchase cards, so we went to see what was happening at the Piano lounge. Turned out they were playing some trivia games like general knowledge and later Micheal Jackson trivia.

Talented chefs and beautiful dining rooms

It seems at one point, I returned to the room for something and found this cute little guy I dubbed “Goodbye Towel Guy” that our helpful room attendant had left for us.

Goodbye towel guy

Later on it seemed we just went from one show to another taking in everything from Big Band music to the cirque odyssey of Up in the Air to the adult comedy show. Watching others play in the casino wasn’t as fun as playing ourselves, so we spent a few more dollars in there before finally calling it a night. Of course then it was time to pack it up and go over our departure instructions and set that dreaded alarm clock again.

Parting shot of the sun shining on a gorgeous gulf

All in all it had been a great day at sea and although I was sad to see it end, I was ready to get back to my hubby!
