I heard a new song by a group I love, Gojira, the other day and I think it’s destined to be a hit!

For those of you who don’t know this band, they are a French rock band who have been around since the late 90’s, when their name was Godzilla. They changed it to Gojira in 2001 and the band members have remained the same. They are considered as one of France’s most successful exports to the US.

The new song is called “Amazonia”, and the “proceeds will be going to benefit the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) who advocate for environmental and cultural rights of the indigenous tribes in the Amazon who have suffered immensely — victims of deforestation land loss, forced labor, violence and harassment.” – Blabbermouth.net

Rock fans like me who listen to stations like Octane (Sirius/XM) are rejoicing that Gojira has another hit, especially one like this with new sounds unlike anything out there since the Hu (from Mongolia) debuted last year. Additionally, Gojira have been known for their spiritually and environmentally-themed lyrics, going from the utmost obscurity during the first half of their career, to widespread global recognition in the second. This new song, “Amazonia”, is right on par with their theme and you can’t watch the video without seeing and feeling that emotion and spirituality.

Check out 2019’s big hit from Gojira, followed by last year’s big hit from the Hu. I’m so happy my musical taste allows me to embrace new sounds like these two relatively new bands are making and I love that they are also environmentally conscientious and give back with the money they make.

 

 

For those of you who don’t like rock, or can’t understand the lyrics, I implore you to give these bands a chance. I will put the lyrics to Amazonia on here because I think it is an important song, and I want the message to be heard and spread around.
