My Brother is a Gem

My brother Kevin the last time we saw him.

We decided we could manage making the trip from Santa Rosa, NM, where we stopped the first night all the way to Ft Worth yesterday.

We were hot, tired, and a little grouchy but so glad and appreciative to finally be home. Home to my brother’s house, where he decided to clear out his master bedroom and bathroom for us to stay in! I was over the moon!

What a kind gesture. I think he is trying to make us more comfortable, because he knows he won’t be here for a while except on weekends due to some changes with his job. He’s picked up Oklahoma as part of his territory.

With that and West Texas, he is staying very busy. So he will reside in the guest room which is very comfortable for one person. He is supposed to be home Friday night. We bought coffee and groceries, his fridge was empty but for condiments and a bag of apples. 😂 That’s a bachelor for ya!

He also knows I’m in pretty rough shape with my back, so that might be why too, but either way, I’m very grateful for it. The ride home was hot because it was 97 degrees and our air is broke on the bus. We literally set up a box fan in front of the dog kennels blowing into the front where we sit. It helped a little.

We thought we were going to have my youngest to come help unload the bus, but you can’t count on your kids, unfortunately. We just brought in the absolutely necessary last night…slowly. My knees are almost as bad as my back and David did most of the work. We got some more off today, got showers, I sat in Kevn’s massage chair, and last night we took a dip in his pool, we were so hot! We feel like humans again today!

Dave and I wet and cooled off!

It wasn’t cold, but it felt so good.

Unfortunately, last night was rough on us at bedtime. Dave tossed and turned, the dogs kept wanting up and down because they were out of sorts and I kept waking up with all their activity.

Im praying tonight will be better and we all get a good rest. I placed a call to the VA stating that I need to get an appointment with my primary ASAP, and I’ve yet to ge5 a call back. I will ca., again tomorrow if I don’t hear back tonight.

pizza 🍕 tonight, cause that’s what hubby wanted, but we discussed the fact that we’ve both gained about 15 lbs that needs to come off. Since I can’t move very well, it’s going to have to be better food choices. I had a sipping soup for lunch. 😉
