The Sunday Message

Praise Jesus!

Praise Jesus for two reasons this morning.

First, I’ve found a sneaky way to at least write a post if nothing else.

Second, we visited a new church (new to us) and I feel like this is where I’m supposed to be. It’s called Trinity Baptist Church and it was the most welcoming church!! I think half the congregation as well as the pastor welcomed us before church ever started!

Its small and therefore not overwhelming with to many programs to join, groups to get involved with, etc. There’s a few things going on and I can handle that. In fact, I’ve already signed up for an event happening on May 2 where we will learn how to make sourdough bread and get a lesson while we do it!

This morning the actual message was on Fear Over Faith and was based on Numbers 1-10.

God had led the Israelites to the promised land. They were right there! They saw proof when the scouts they had sent to investigate came back with a branch laden with grapes. It was fruitful. It was a land flowing with milk and honey, just as God had promised.

But then the bad news that the people were strong and might try to drive then out had them doubting God and they even wished they could go back into bondage in Egypt. How is that possible? How could they have seen all the miracles God had done and not trust him?

Fear makes us do it even today. We have to let go of the fear and let God lead us to follow His plan. I can testify that when you do that, your life will become much calmer. When you have “eyes for eternity” you can relax and let Jesus drive the rest of the way. Stop telling Him where to go. He knows the way, he designed the plan for your life!

Stop letting fear hold you back. Give your life to God and then relax and watch as he showers blessings upon you.

Thanks for being here, my heart is so happy!

  4. What do you do if you have always believed in God, but have a very bad experience with a believer and it makes you jaded?

    1. Just keep praying and being in the Word every day helps me.
I start every morning in the Bible app, doing my devotionals, then reading whatever book I’m in, followed by listening to the Verse by Verse scripture on that verse. It has helped me have eyes for eternity and strengthened my faith.

      1. This was actually from a blogger professing to be Christian who wrote a review of my debut novel calling my novel ‘racist’ and trying to shame me. I asked my publisher and readers and they said no, your book is a mystery. It was spiteful to me that she did this under the name of faith and God. I felt unnerved by this. As a result, I have trouble believing those who profess to be Christian and kind.

      2. You don’t have to print my comment but I needed someone to know. For an idealistic first time author, and I received some great reviews…it was very disturbing. Thank you for listening! I have moved on and published my second novel.

      3. I can understand how that could happen and I’m so sorry that it shook up your faith.
All you need to know is that if you believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again three days later, you will be saved. Believe it with all your heart, soul, and mind. Just live like He would want you to by loving your neighbor as yourself and forgiving those who do you wrong. 🙏☺️

      4. Kim, I am good at forgiveness but I hope she is not stalking me. She seems a little vindicative. I don’t know why she did that and it worries me that there is someone out there who hates I had a novel published. Hopefully, she has moved on and is making Christian vows, like myself. Thank you!

      5. We can’t do much about an online stalker. Just pray for her that God changes her heart.

      6. Kim Smyth, you seem like such a down to earth person that I took a chance to confide in you. Thank you for listening and now time to move forward. My husband has some serious medical problems, so I need to focus on him, myself, and the good opportunities life presents me with. I am honored my publisher and friends respect and push me forward. You are right. I might be imagining that someone so religious and interested in God might be stalking me. It does sound juvenile. Time to let God change her heart, so she can be busy saving souls and not making false statements.

      7. Yes, let God take the reigns on that lady. I have to let go and let God quite often myself! I pray He changes her heart.

      9. The only person we can change is ourself, so we move forward. I am not sure why she found the need to degrade me and my novel but I have faith that readers will enjoy my novels and continue to read them. I enjoy writing, and my life is good. Peace be with you!
