SoCS + Daily Prompt

What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “draw.” Use it as a noun, use it as a verb, use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

The skill I consider basic is drawing. I don’t draw well but maybe better than some. It’s a basic skill we all practice in elementary school but take years of practice to master, if one cares enough to do so.

Lately as most of you know, I’ve been into Zentangle drawing. It’s a simple practice of drawing basic shapes like lines, circles, s shapes, and more. The philosophy is that it’s so easy and there is no perfection required. Just make four dots, connect with lines and fill with your basic repetitive shapes.

Well, with my right arm and hand so numb that I can’t even curl my hair or clip my nails, drawing might also have to wait a while…or does it? I guess I could practice using my left hand! I did that day before yesterday, but it was pretty rough. It would take a lot of practice to look good I’m sure.

I’d rather look at people’s artwork like The Unfurling Artist and Maureen Berry, who know what they’re doing and do it so well. These ladies not only draw but also paint! Now that’s a talent!
