So, if my friend lives in Paradise, Texas, is she a paradisiac? š¤£š¤£
I have an announcement:

Woo hoo! Iāve been studying my Spanish for a year now, 365 days in a row with no missed days! So proud of myself, but of course, I have the pandemic to thank. I doubt I would have stayed with it had I not been stuck mainly at home with nowhere to go but study and write. And, I leveled up as well!

I can now read short sentences and stories, but Iām lacking in actually speaking the words in public. I can say them, I can roll my ārās, and my accent is pretty good. So why am I so shy? I guess I need to pick a few phrases and practice saying them to the dogs lol. They are very good listeners. š

Yesterday, I made some cookies that finally look and taste more like the real thing! Well, to me anyway, Dave wasnāt in the mood to sample them last night, so weāll see what he says. After I sample a cold one this morning, if they still taste right to me, Iāll share some with my dad and see what he thinks āŗļø
Peace out, yāall! Have a happy Thursday!Ā

Congrats on your Spanish progress. Learning a language takes a HUGE commitment in time and effort. Sounds like you have made significant progress.
A couple of years ago, I wanted to brush up on my German, but as you say, I didn’t spend a steady amount of time on it. Then, I won a contract for a job in Seattle and decided to take my CDs with me and practice on the 4-day trip. It worked for a while. I felt comfortable with the lessons but didn’t have anyone to practice with. Now I’m losing it again. In Germany, they laughed at my struggles to speak German and told me to speak English – it was their second language and they were very good at it.

Thank you! I sometimes practice with my waiter (camarero) on Thursday nights where we almost always go for date night. He is very forgiving but sometimes tests me and I get shy and fail. One day, Iām gonna surprise him and rattle off a whole sentence!

The fact that you said, “Peace out, y’all,” is so funny to me. Lol. Congratulations on completing one full year of learning Spanish!
