Much like the lovely Linda G Hill, I had trouble getting started with today’s prompt, but here goes!
Today was forecasted to be a very rainy, stormy (in some places) day, and I figured if Dave was going to watch tv instead of being social, I was not going to let him stop me from joining Saturday coffee and donuts , which is really a get to know your neighbor kind of gathering.
But then he surprised me by offering to take me over there, and I said, “Yes thanks, and then I’ll work on my DP over there after we’re done and text you when I’m finished.” I knew he knew I just wanted to do it!
When we got out of there, the rain was just starting to fall. I grabbed a package that came for us off the table and we quickly made our way back across the way to our bus. Then what a surprise we got!
I opened the box that was from my oldest bff, Kaye-not by age, mind you- but length of time known. Anyway, she had made us all kinds of snacks and goodies, along with a handmade winter gnome, and a tiny Santa magnet gnome! So cute and such a sweet treat! The food gifts came in the cutest little see-through containers that are also stackable! What an awesome late Christmas early valentines gift! Tucked inside was also a box of candy conversation hearts! How thoughtful and kind was all of this?! And the day isn’t over yet.
Tonight, we get together for a live band under the tent cover where they have entertainment and tables set up to sit and eat or drink. We haven’t been there for an event yet, but again I said, “Let’s just do it!” I don’t know why it takes my normally so personable husband to join in the fun sometimes, but I’m hopeful this is the ice breaker he needs! And there’s free beer to boot! Cmon! Well, he can have beer anyway. I’m off alcohol until I’m done with my meds. (Not that i like beer, cause I definitely do not)
I’ll include a slideshow at the bottom of this ramble to show you our gifts. Not sure where I’ll put the gnomes, but I’ll figure something out! One more thing…I hit a milestone!
