Today we woke up early, although there was no need to. In my case, my brother needed something from his office which is right next to the guest room where we sleep. The door has been sticking, so when he opened it, it made a loud noise, waking me. It was 5:30am.
Why I woke up so wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, idk! It must be the excitement in the knowledge that we are about to hit the road again. Sorry, I can’t help it. I’m ready to go.
I know that a few people are disappointed we aren’t staying for the holiday, but its been like that since we started traveling. This time of year was when we got rolling two years ago, and on top of that, we are due in Florida by December 1st anyway.
Our kids are spread all-over the place, Kevin had made plans with friends from church so we thought why not go ahead and spend a few days at Toledo Bend looking at houses before pushing on to Florida. So we went to the bus and tidied up a few more things and put some things in storage before going to eat our special lunch.
I know I didn’t get a chance to see everyone I wanted to, but we’ve been so busy since we came home. Now this week, we will need to get the dogs taken care of (they are due shots and flea/tick preventative ) on Wednesday afternoon, and have tomorrow and Wednesday to load the bus. We depart on Thursday morning.
I’m even a bit excited about the week we will spend at the lake looking at houses. We really need our own “home base.” I’m not even discounting a place on the Louisiana side, it’s so beautiful over there, but I’ll have to coax Dave into that…if we could even find one in our price range.
As I’ve mentioned before, the other purpose in finding a lake house is to get rid of what’s in storage and get rid of that monthly bill. It will also save us money because it will keep us from having to put the bus in storage too, it will be there with us on the property!
Yes, we will still travel, yet I imagine we will take some months off at home sometimes to get the stuff moved into the house and, depending on the condition, fix it up.
I’m not worried about it, what will be, will be. If we find a lake house we can live with that has all the room we need, that’s good enough for me! Dave just wants a shop or shed (or both) and a covered parking space for the bus. I just want to be near the water.
If I can have that, I don’t care if we live in a manufactured home. I’d even live in a “tiny” home, but Dave not so much. I get that because he is tall and he is tired of bumping his head on everything all the time. 🤣😂
Our friend who is a real estate broker is coming down to the lake to show us some houses, which is very nice. Its a haul down there, about 250 miles from here and he lives in Poolville which is an hour northwest of us here in NRH.
He did some work for us on a business matter earlier this year, so we promised him he could sell us our next home. We already secured a place in an RV park near the lake, so we are ready to go! Kevin is out all week on business, but said he would try to get home earlier. I said my goodbyes this morning in case that doesn’t happen.
Wish us luck so that when we come back from Florida, we can get to work establishing our “new” home. 🙏 As you know, I’ll keep you posted. ☺️
