Of Sharks, Bums, Politicians, and Cads Proverbs 6: 1-35
Have you ever borrowed money from a rich shark, only to be told you must pay it back-with interest-by his deadline or else? What does that make you? A slave.
Proverbs 22-7
”The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.”
A cad is more like the person that borrows never intending to pay back, (one of my kids has been guilty of that) but we keep on lending anyway (because we feel guilty.
The Lord doesn’t want us to do that when its our reputation on the line. He doesn’t want us to enter into that sort of relationship either, because we will lose what may or may not belong to us. What if you’re borrowing money while representing your company. If that entity doesn’t pay you back, your company may fire you for losing their money.
Yet changing gears here, Psalm 37-21 says this:
”The wicked borrow and do not pay back, but the righteous give generously.”
So the message gets confusing. Furthermore, Matthew 5:42 says –
”Give to the one who asks you and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”
However, you do not have to enter into an arrangement where you are co-signing on a high-interest loan-it can wreck your reputation.
God wants us to be productive and not slugs (ne’er to wells) and if you’re going to be a slug, be a ant! Don’t sleep your life away. Do the work and get your pay, and you can rest later.
Working is good. To not work, is rejecting what God deems is good.
- Do not lose what you’ve got and keep up the Good Work. Proverbs (6:1-11).
2. Don’t use deceptive or licentious ways. Proverbs (6:12-35)
God loves us and wants us to walk in wisdom, love and grace.

I hope you’ve made sense of this somewhat confusing message and I’m so glad you’re here! Go off and have a blessed Sunday and a great week.
