Company for Dinner

Saturday night we hosted dinner for a few friends. Dave had cooked a pork butt all day and I showed him a new way to fry plantains.

Rick and Carrie joined Dave and I, along with NYJ and Nancy. Sorry for the towel covered bikes blocking the view.

NYJ is what we call Jimmy because he’s from New York. Carrie is famous for giving everyone nicknames around here, especially when there are five Jims, four Kims, etc.

Dave had everything prepared for street tacos including homemade Pico, guacamole and hot sauce with chips. NYJ brought a delicious seafood salad that had octopus, shrimp, vegetables, in some kind of vinegrette.

The plantains turned out great, most everyone ate them plain, but I tried the with guac or ketchup, I prefer the latter. They taste similar to potatoes.

Nancy wouldn’t eat, yet she brought a snack of fish dip and crackers. We all ate and sat around and talked for what felt like hours. We eventually got bit up and then came the chill, so we went inside.

    1. Yes sir, and I had more to add, but once the editor saves each time, I can no longer make changes. I don’t know why it’s doing that.

If you ate plantains without anything else, would they be PLAINtains?
