The bittersweet fruit so vibrant and wild
Poisonous plant yet widely desired
Herbal remedy in colorful berries
Keep children away, this one is scary!
Keeps witches away too, as legend would have it. Used to keep away the “evil eye” from cattle, it was hung around their necks.
Ancient herbalists said it was good for those who had fallen from high places and had been bruised or beaten, dissolves blood clots and heals hurt places.
I’d stay away unless an herbalist was on the payroll and watch kids around the colorful juicy berries, it’s only not poison to birds.
I thought it was appropriate since we are entering into that famous scary season! I’ll just call them boo berries!
