Writing Prompts

Dinner and Entertainment

I’m sorry I’m so late with this, but it’s been busy around here.

Easter Sunday, we went to Charlotte Sadie’s first birthday party. We were late. I mistakenly thought the invite said 3-5, but it was 1-3. Still, we were in time to visit with our niece a bit before she went down (reluctantly) for a nap. Here she is with her mama, Tori.

Such cutie pies!

Sadie, as e prefer to call her, is the spitting image of her grandad, who sadly passed away in 2015. She is named for him (Charlie) and when she smiles, you can see him in it.

With Uncle Jim and his daughter, Stephanie.

We also visited with her grandma, Teri, who recently completed treatment for breast cancer. She is doing well! She was able to work the entire time and is getting used to her short hair.

Later we returned to Kevin’s to help prepare dinner, receive the kids who brought a special guest…Rebecca! I was so happy to see her, she is a very busy girl and I wasn’t sure when her schedule would allow for a visit. Like most young adults who work, she is overwhelmed. She is working as an activities director at an assisted living facility in Granbury.

After dinner, Chris kept us entertained with stories like the time he said to his friends he was making a beer run and ended up in Austin. We were all laughing so hard our cheeks were sore. That boy really needs to take his show on the road! When he gets on a roll, there’s no stopping him. You can tell by everyone watching he was hilarious.

Josh down front, Chris, Becky, Sean, and Dave’s legs. Kevin and I are in the arm chairs unseen.

Yesterday, we had to drive all the way back to Alvarado, get enough clothes for the week, and all my supplies to finish the project I’m working on for Kevin’s patio wall. In the afternoon, I started working on the saguaro boots, and the birds I’m trying to make out of devils claws. One of those may or may not become part of the scene. We will see. I have other birds coming for that. Anyway, pray the project comes together before he returns home.

Finally, I reached a milestone in my Spanish lessons, yet I still can’t speak it. Words and phrases here and there. It will come, I’m sure. I just need to practice more!

Woo hoo!

One more thing. I finally got my air plants and can display one with the vase my friend Diane gave me!

It’s so pretty and really brightens up the space.
