Recently, I’ve been using a brand of CBD with ashwaganda, but ran out of my sample. I’m so lucky to have been gifted a bottle of ashwaganda capsules. They are a great stress reducer and make me feel calm and relaxed without any euphoria.

Just a warning though, before everyone rushes out to get some. All the research I’ve done suggests you only take it for three months. Now, I don’t know if that means it’s ok to take it for three months, stop for a while and take it again, or not. Further research on ashwaganda is necessary. But, for now, if it makes me feel as good as CBD, I’m keeping some around as a backup for days I don’t have any CBD.

It’s commonly ground and put in capsules, and the dosage varies, but mine is 800mg in two capsules to be taken once a day, they suggest after breakfast. It’s the brand Organic India and had it not been given to me, it runs about $18.99 per bottle. Totally with it!!

Warnings for pregnant women, and people on thyroid medication seem to say don’t use.

If you want to try it, ask your doctor if it interacts with any medications you’re on.

Since I’m in steroids right now for inflammation of my muscles, which makes me shaky, it helps to level me out.

Focusing is Challenging These Days

The talk is all over my news feed, and it’s true. I’m not alone. These days it seems to be a real challenge to maintain focus on whatever task I should be doing. I find myself standing in the kitchen sometimes, wondering what I was about to do. Do you feel this way?

I swear, I cannot take any more death. I cried all night last night upon learning that another friend had passed away. I have no idea whether it was from the virus, old age, or something else. I don’t know why it hit me so hard, I think it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The news made me mourn everyone we’ve lost for the past two months, I finally cracked. I had been wondering why I had not cried over the loss of closer friends and acquaintances, I think it’s because the quantity of loss was staggering, I could not wrap my mind around it. It’s no wonder we can’t focus. Our minds are shot.

Most of my writings about all this are in my journals and on Medium, but I thought I’d share why I’ve been feeling so scattered these days, so that you might understand yourself why you all might be feeling the same way. I think it’s getting close to time for a break. I’m so glad we are still going on our girl’s trip. I for one feel like I need it.

Rising to the Challenge-30 Days Writing Challenge Thanks to Toots!

Hey there, calling all bloggers!

I know you may not be all about another writing challenge and truthfully, I am strapped for time myself, however…

I was introduced to another new blogger when she so graciously decided to follow me, and I checked out her blog-which is what you’re supposed to do, right?!

So I saw she has started a new 30-day writing challenge to stimulate her creative juices, I thought her questions were intriguing and if you do to and want to play along, check out her post with the challenge questions here.

Maybe I can figure a way to incorporate two challenges into one or something, plus, I’m late in the game to start, I’ll just start my 30 days from this day forward. Go check out her blog and see what else you can learn about Toots, she seems like a nice, young gal.

Ok. The first question in the challenge is this:

Day one: Something you are looking forward to this year.

That one is easy, I actually have a few things I am looking forward to this year! Two have to do with music. I have a birthday concert coming up which I have already mentioned once a while back. That one is with my good friend Michelle. Then, my oldest son bought us tickets to go see Korn and Faith No More for our combined birthdays so we could attend a concert together, something we have not done in a long time!

The other thing I’m looking forward to is a girl trip with my friend Stephanie and her caregiver, Cristina. We are going to my favorite place, Port Aransas at the end of May. We are going to parasail, something I have never done! I am so excited about that…and maybe a bit nervous too. I’m sure it will be thrilling for this old lady, a new view on my beloved island. I hope I can take my phone so once we are airborne I can have proof I did it! Us ladies are going to have so much fun together, three days won’t be nearly enough yet I’m grateful they asked me to go, I have been missing the beach for a long time now.

I’m also looking forward to the possibility of a vacation with my husband, yet we are not sure when or if this will be a reality this year. We have not been on one for two years and he needs a getaway desperately. In fact, I feel guilty that I get to go somewhere and he doesn’t, so I’m really hoping he makes time for himself to relax. With all of my medical issues last year and family commitments as well, work being so time consuming and problematic, he just needs a break. I’m praying he gets one.
