WOD Challenge 3-21-22 Storms Across Texas

We are under a tornado watch until 10pm.

We are the blue dot above Ft Worth

We just watched a tornado crossing over 287 in Bowie, Tx to the west of the Metroplex.

Looks like a rough night across Texas as a cool front approaches. Dang, it’s just the second day of spring yet here we go!

In other news, I had my eye appointment today. I forgot to ask about the blue light glasses after being told I have the beginnings of cataracts, ”floaters”, and I have to go back next week to have my eyes dilated, due to my blood pressure and kidney problems. She just wants to check my eyes out real well and make sure I don’t have any disease or serious problems. The good news is, I only needed a slight change to my contacts prescription and boy, it made a big difference. I wear one in my right eye for distance and a different strength in my left eye for close up. I still read the best with my naked eyes.

I haven’t felt like working out today because of an upset stomach, but I did vacuum the house and mop the kitchen and game room. At least my blue ring is closed 😂. That’s the one for standing.

My brother kindly got the area rug from my dad’s house cleaned and brought it to me for our living room. I can’t believe it looks so good! They did a great job cleaning the stains out. Now if I can keep it clean with my mutts, I’ll be doing good. 🤣 Brandy acts like she’s scared of it, maybe she understood my threat of “Don’t let me catch you peeing on this rug” seriously!

Well, be safe and I hope you’re not in the tornado zone tonight. We are hearing bad news about Jacksboro and Bowie. I’m praying folks heed the watches and warnings.

What Day is it Anyway?

Piggybacking off KC’s post, who was piggybacking off of Linda’s post, I guess it’s a safe bet we are all truly feeling the WDIIA vibe today.

It really is Tuesday, yet it’s felt like anything but today. So far I have been a basket case, my mind all over the place. I have a trip planned for
Thursday, so I’ve done everything from start my packing, to weeding the
back corner garden and did some writing, cooking, and studying scripture in between. It’s like I couldn’t figure out what to do with myself, which days
I don’t go to my dad’s are all like that.

My sunflower is now taller than my rose bush, if it doesn’t bloom soon, it will be even with the top of

the fence! I did a small load of laundry that ended up needing a second wash due to a giant water bug getting mixed in the wash 🤮. It took me forever to know what to blog about on the Word of the Day Challenge, but I finally got er done. So it’s been a productive day, if no sense was made of it.

Mondays are usually dedicated to writing, however, with my brain spinning about the trip, I just wasn’t feeling it. I had my Spanish lesson, a lecture on the Bible my brother Kevin shared with me from his classes at seminary. I assembled my zucchini au gratin this morning so I could sauce it and stick it in the oven tonight, and somehow caught pieces of Poltergeist 2 and 3 in between all of my activities. This afternoon I weeded the corner garden, and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off worrying about what I’m bringing on my trip to Port A with Stephanie and Christina. I tried to call the Chamber of Commerce several times about securing a beach wheelchair, to no avail. I’m sure we will figure it out when we get there, they told me before to check with the lifeguards and we should be able to get one. We are all traveling in her ramp van together, so I’ve been worrying about how much room she has for all of our stuff, even though it’s only a three day trip.

Now I’m trying to relax with a glass of vino and watching the new season of Deadliest Catch, an all night affair as they take us from the Bering Sea, to Russia, and previously Hawaii. I love these shows about catching King Crab and Wicked Tuna and the like. Hopefully, tomorrow feels like the day it really is….Wednesday, right?! Hahaha!

What Day is it Anyway?

Gosh, it’s Friday and somehow I don’t feel like celebrating the fact. Life is weird right now, even if I’m used to staying home a lot. I can always find things to do, but now that we are being forced to stay home, I don’t want to, lol.

Yesterday, I went and helped Dad fix his lunch. He was feeling kind of dizzy, so instead of playing pool, he looked as if he would be happy watching some inane thing on tv about animals. I watched with him for all of five minutes and then had a brilliant idea. “Dad, would you like to go to the park and sit and watch the ducks for a while?” He was up for it! So that’s what we did.

Then we came back here and watched more tv while he rested. Being an 85 year old with Parkinson’s, that little outing was enough to tire him out, not to mention, I had to help him navigate a small incline to get to the park bench, not taking into consideration how stiff he has become due to the Parkinson’s. Poor guy really was tired. After a while I looked at him and asked via my whiteboard if he was bored. (He is also mostly nonverbal now, so we use the whiteboard a lot). He nodded yes, and I asked if he was up for a game yet, he was so we played two games of pool and then I took him home.

Today, I have a ton of writing to catch up on, a new site that I got published on asked me to read other’s stories and comment, so I have that to do, housework, crafting, and a show to watch. I’m also going to look into staples I can purchase online and that is a time eater, so it will be put off for as long as possible. Luckily, we have plenty of food and supplies around here, so the need is not dire yet anyway. I just have a couple of gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, lol.

I’m very bummed that social activities I had planned for this month and next have been canceled, but the same is probably true for everyone. We will get through it all, remember your friends and family, I had the thought strike me last night that I don’t use FaceTime nearly enough. When we can’t be in the same room with each other, that is the next best thing! Call a friend! Call your parents, let them see your face! It’s an easy way to stay connected during this difficult, crazy time.

Hang in there everyone and TGIF! (even if it doesn’t feel like it)
