Prompt: write a post inspired by the word obituary.
Kimberly Susan Smyth lived a simple life with her ride or die by her side constantly. David was the love of her life. Her best friend. She never tired of doing things with him even if they’d become mundane.
Kim, as she preferred to be called, also loved her children Sean, Joshua, and Christopher with a passion usually reserved for wine and chocolate. They could be difficult, but she loved them anyway.
She was an animal lover as well. Her last pets were her adorable shorkies whom she named Whiskey -for her coloring, and Brandy- for David’s favorite song. Before that, there had been Butch the English Bulldog, Callie, her cat she adopted from her dad’s boat in the backyard, and many other pets growing up. Birds, hamsters, and fish too.
Kim was becoming more involved in her local church-Trinity Baptist-and loved her church family. She was a Christian and loved the Lord with her whole heart. She diligently studied the word and went to Sunday services, Sunday school, prayer and home group and was on the Trinity Cares team.
Kim loved to read and write and was a crafter of many things. She also collected lots of friends during her life. Like seashells on the beach, she made friends with ease-at least in her mind they were her friends. Surely she had some true-blue friends, but rare as those are she would count only three as her closest.
Her life’s work was helping people. She served in the Army and worked everywhere from nursing homes to hospitals. She did lab work and many other jobs in the medical field before calling it quits to save her sanity. Oh, it was never her patient’s fault, it was her co-workers that made her life miserable.
Once “retired” she really enjoyed life with her family. Before her body finally betrayed her for the last time, she had been traveling with her David across the country chasing those 70-degree temps. It was on such a trip that she was standing in the ocean-her happy place-when a rogue wave Tok her over and drove her headfirst into the sand and drowning her.
She is survived by her husband David, her three sons aforementioned, and her brother Kevin Robicheaux. Also her brother-in-law Robert (Bubba) and his wife Naz. She will be cremated and interred at DFW National Cemetery next to her parents-in-law.
