SoCS-Happy Birthday, America & More!

Lots of News!

From our church celebration last night.

Boy do I have a lot to show and tell today! We’ve had a visit from Chris, my youngest and a friend of his (Stacey) and her two little girls, we went to the golf course yesterday and sweated a ton, and we celebrated America’s 250th birthday at our church with food, games, and prayer!

First, Chris got him and his friend a hotel in Beaumont Monday so he could be between us and the beach, but we only got to visit on Wednesday. They went home yesterday but they did go to the beach on Tuesday to Sea Rim State Park-one of the cleanest beaches here.

I will put all the pics I took of him and his friend in a gallery.

I’m terrible with names, sorry!

Yesterday, we braved the heat and humidity and headed to Beaumont’s Tyrell Park to play golf. Well, Dave played and I drove the cart. Son, he was paired up with a nice couple of guys who were also veterans!

Dave was done by hole 16. The wheels were coming off his game and the brutal heat and humidity were insufferable. We started to go get some things from Sam’s while in Beaumont but one look at the parking lot sparked disinterest pretty quick.

Finally, after showers and rest, we were ready to get up to church for the celebration. We ate burgers, chips, tater salad, home made ice cream and various desserts (the fig cake was divine)!

The decorations were cute and patriotic, and after prayers and dinner, we had to fill out some trivia, unscramble some words, and answer true and false questions for fun and we all were pretty bad at history. Had we read the newsletters we got today yesterday, we would have aced the “tests”. Oh well, it was great fun anyway.

I wish 🙏 you all a safe and Happy 4th of July, celebrating our 250th birthday! It’s also the mother of my grandaughter Rayven’s birthday and one of my cousins, Cathy Doyle. May all you celebrate today go off w thout a hitch. Leave the fireworks 🎆 to the pros please and enjoy fun and fellowship with your family and friends.

We have the pleasure of going to Renda and Norm’s house for the 4th. Dave is cooking a bunch of ribs and Renda is making sides. I’ve been so excited to show David their house in the country. Norm was quite the wood crafter back in the day. I will try to remember to take pics outside. She and he host our home groups every other Tuesday.

Our fabulous pastor, Kevin very much looked the part yesterday!!
